My name is Paul. I tattoo and paint a lot. The nickname Proper got tagged on my name the first day of my apprenticeship and stuck. I don't know. I guess speaking in complete sentences and moderate to average hygiene make one stand our in this scene. As far as my work goes I have been guided by a relatively simple ethose. I draw and paint the stuff that I'd like to have tattooed on my person or hanging on my wall. I love that tattooing is a collaboration. Until they figure out how to outsource this thing it will continue to take one Tattooer to tattoo one trusting client and I believe that any demand can be answered with a tattoo that not only satisfies the recipient but lends itself well to being a tattoo and will stand the tests of time. When it comes to painting I have only myself to satisfy and Im my worst critic. If there's one thing I would want people to understand about me it is how much I love this, all of this; the clients the satisfaction of seeing work get completed, the smell of green soap, it goes on. Most of all I love fellow tattooers. I got tattooed for 13 years before picking up a machine and the people I've been lucky enough to meet and know are the most varied and interesting bunch to occupy any profession. I hope somebody enjoys my work and maybe visits me at Seven Seas Tattoo in Downtown, San Diego.
